V959 quadcopter. Failure to bind transmitter with V222 receiver

This quad copter work perfectly well for only about 1 hour of flight time. Then suddenly it stopped binding with the receiver. There were no crashes. The batteries in the transmitter are fully charged. The transmitter by itself appears to work fine. After I turn on both I move throttle to maximum and then minimum. The transmitter beeps indicating it thinks it should have bound to transmitter, I can select modes 1,2, 3 and 4 I can change power levels, When I move controls I can see the channel number change as expected. The power buttons all work, ie I can change power level etc . But I just cannot connect/bind to the receiver. The receiver board flashes the lights well, but when it binds all lights are meant to go off.
