It's a portable alternative to treating an entire room with acoustic panels which also has a much smaller footprint than other acoustic isolation shields. I should point out that the audio samples I used in this video might not seem that different from each other depending on your audio setup. The room where I recorded them had a very harsh treble echo that can be heard when sitting in the room, but apparently a cardioid mic does a decent job blocking it out. There was still a little bleed through that the PF8 did a great job of blocking, but there's a chance that compressing the audio for YouTube hides the differences on some headphones.
