Adelaide -- Hindley Street -- workshopfashion

http://tinyurl.com/ocfls5d Secret offers from Accuquilt
Independent Designer's of The Workshop (http://workshoponhindley.blogspot.com.au/) @151 Hindley Street -- befuddled us pleasantly to a pop-up dapper hotwalk. Nearing the end of 2013 Fringe. Using 'the Reading Room' @153 Hindley Street (http://thereadingroom-renewadelaide.blogspot.com.au/) as their prep-studio space and model cool-room. One Year later and the two beautiful spaces of solitude and wonder are no more (Both Renew Adelaide Spaces, gracing Hindley with creature comfort space for almost Three Years!). Replaced in early 2014 by an Entrepreneurial Low-Rider Bikeshop -- short lived. The wall between the Work Shop and the Reading Room... was knocked out. With the only main remnant of the Bicycle Business now being... scarcely contrasting enough to the world outside; to be Ironic. Knuckleduster Decal on the Window Facades -- Iconic. Here you have a ruin, a remnant, a memory of what was once, before the latter. Formerly; two completely unique and autonomously loved -- individual Renew-Adelaide-Umbrella ventures of The Creatives happening here. Whence that Brickwall were in-place... gifted an etiquette of Atmospheric divide. the Work Shop:: Fitted with utilities of the trade; Trestle table, Sewing machine, Fabric cutter, Clothing rack alike... the Space was fully functioning... plural. Yet decorated not as much a themed Shop, but by the homely touch of each Resident Socio-shell-Crafter -- calling it a Workspace. It grew and mended the derelict guts of a long abandoned shop space. A volunteer next-door ~ I'd pop in for a brief chat and change from the chaotic beauty of the Reading Room. Mostly just to sit by the window at the patronage micro-lounge, to fondle through a bowl about the size of two cupped palms -- of peculiar buttons (Gently-generously placed with a tenderness of Reception Counter Candy). So -- to ponder & appreciate our little neighbourhood. The Reading Room:: Well -- something else entirely. All items here; lovingly donated by a vast array of human beings. This was a Community Lounge & Art/Performance space. Opened to the public by the nuanced fluttering, flickering, flourishing glow of quasi-shop-keeper Volunteers. I personally loved most -- how each member of their day, would change the lounge of the space, alike the music... just as they wanted to. Not only that... every Month we were all graced by majestic decorators, whom sometimes went unseen -- unlike their expressive ambiance. Changed, the view, a gamut of perplexing ways (Exhibitions). Firstly, the Books, Furniture, Appliances, were as gladly donated as the varity of times spent among the resulting 'Space'... The place; What it was...? Was a fondly kept openness that harboured many forms of person... those that Managed it -- allowed it to facilitate the dreams, aspirations of those without such a space as an openness, undefined. Unexpecting of what it may be gifted or defined by next. (Disclaimed on-topic) As Fashion transcends the conceptualisation of an Epoch whilst also carrying the Era. A capacity of the Modern World... is for those amoung it -- to live any Era they so please -- now -- right now. Through the semblances of our (peoples') individual&collective skins. Nothing about 151+153 Hindley that made it happen, was accountable Monetarily. The efforts of all involved, those allowing these spaces to exist and those that livened them... was a genuine charm. Essentially we existed due to the absence of cash-flow... yet survived by donations and the coins invested were done so out of Love. Thus it seems, Money as Survival, is the Sigh of Humane Entropy. And so... of this Passion-Fashion Doco... it could seem listless... but in an age of the 'Pow-Wow Video'... merely... it is Air... liked or unliked... it is a minimalist-memento breath.
